I’m a person who loves to learn. I’ll be the first to ask ‘why’ and won’t sleep until I’ve found the solution to a problem. I love to develop myself and add new strings to that bow wherever I can so when I got the opportunity to complete a Diploma with NCC Home Learning the geek inside me was really excited.

I studied Psychology at uni and left with a BSC in the subject. I was advised by my tutors to keep things open and not specialise too much with my degree but I always wished I had split my studies to include counselling skills. Having had counselling myself these past 6 months I’m a big believer in the good it can do and I’m keen to know more on the practice myself.

Getting set up with NCC was easy. Just a case of picking your course and registering online. Once you’re set up on the system it’s game on and you can begin your study! There are so many qualifications to choose from including photography, child minding, accounting and more. I chose to study for a Level 3 Counselling Diploma not necessarily to forge a new career, but simply to expand my knowledge out of interest and improve my listening skills.

Moving through the course has been really easy, reading, learning, writing important bits down and most of all working at your own pace. There’s no pressure if life gets in the way and it means the time you do set yourself to work through things is dedicated and you can really enjoy studying instead of feeling like you have to get it done. The modules have been incredibly interesting and really easy to navigate…I’m pretty sure I can get student discount again too! *score*

There really is something to be said for going back to school as an adult. When I was at uni it sometimes felt like such a (very expensive) chore whereas now I’m loving every second and actually want to learn! It’s been great for my self esteem, motivation and concentration and I can’t fault NCC for anyone looking to expand their knowledge on something or continue study at home.
