Barry M Flawless Matte Finish Foundation Review

I absolutely adore Barry M nail polish. The colours, the consistency and the price are all spot on but I’ve never really experimented with any other Barry M makeup before their new Autumn/Winter 2013 collection, and just like their eye and cheek palettes I’m really quite impressed with their new Flawless Matte Finish Foundations*.

I’m used to using Bobbi Brown Long Wear or Estee Lauder Double Wear foundations for high coverage and no-touch up applications so going back to a budget foundation is a big jump, but as my skin is a little bit clearer than usual and still has a bit of colour I’m not in need of such high coverage at the moment and I feel more comfortable experimenting with different brands.

Packaging

First things first – the packaging. I’m not a major fan of the neon pink and the pumps aren’t the smoothest to use but for under £6 we can’t really grumble – It serves a purpose and is easy to throw in a makeup case. As for the product itself, I like it! It blends easily with a large brush, builds up to hide any imperfections and gives a nice even finish on the skin.

Does It Last?

Now, I’m used to using foundations that and made to last so Mr M had his work cut out with me on this front. With a dusting of powder and a spritz of my MAC Fix+ this foundation seems to hold up fairly well until the end of the working day without touch ups and with minimal fading. As for it’s matte finish, it seems to do well, holding back my oily face well only to be phased a little when running around London jumping on sweaty tubes with a really heavy suitcase trying to find our hotel for the evening of the awards last week! But after re-application I actually rocked it at the Cosmo Blog Awards themselves as it doesn’t contain SPF and therefore didn’t reflect with all the flash photography giving me a lovely finish and great colour match for my tanned skin.

I’m really impressed with this foundation considering it’s price and i think it’s brilliant for night’s out with lots of flash photos and for simply throwing on during the day (with an SPF moisturiser of course – stay sun safe kids!). If my skin continues to behave itself I’d be happy to carry on using this foundation and saving myself a few pennies so I’d say it’s definitely worth picking up and trialling to see if you could do the same!
