I don’t know how it’s happened, but I’ve reached the grand old age of 31 without ever going camping before! I know, I’m missing out, and I’m working on it I promise, but to ease myself in I thought I would give Glamping a go.
Glamping, or ‘Glamorous camping’ has actual beds, toilets and other home comforts whilst also sharing the traditional camping benefits of being surrounded by nature and away from it all.
Glamping Pods are all the rage in the UK right now, and Wootton Park in the Midlands have just added a brand new super pod to their collection.
They invited us down for the night to try it out – let’s take a look inside…
Aquarius – glamping pod with hot tub
Welcome to Aquarius – the Super Pod! It sleeps four, has it’s own private bathroom, kitchen, living room area, underfloor heating AND private hot tub – now THAT’S what I call glamorous camping!
Sitting in its very own field completely separate from Wootton Park’s other pods and treehouses, Aquarius is perfect for families, couples and groups of friends looking to get away from it all on a luxury staycation.
As you step into the pod you’re greeted by a two person reclining leather sofa, flat screen tv and kitchenette with all the amenities…and even a mini breakfast bar and stools. It’s quite astounding!
Aquarius has two bedrooms – the master with a double bed, full length mirror and hairdryer, and the second with adorable (and very comfortable) bunk beds.
We also had a private bathroom with toilet, sink, towel warmer and a powerful shower big enough to fit two! I was honestly amazed at the bathroom in Aquarius, its bigger and better equipped than some hotels I’ve stayed in before and the shower was really powerful!
Outside, there’s a private deck with dining room table and chairs, a hammock, BBQ and the best part….our own private hot tub which was bubbling and ready to go!
We spent our afternoon playing board games on the deck and badminton in the field. In the evening we enjoyed a glass of fizz in the hot tub, made dinner and snuggled up on the sofa in front of the tv with some face masks on and a good film- it was bliss. I could definitely see myself here for a week, although I’d probably be a giant prune after spending all that time in the hot tub!
There is wifi to keep you connected, but we found that we didn’t even need to log on. It was just so nice to be out in nature having conversations, reading books and taking time away from a screen for once.
It was however nice to have the option of watching tv before bed. It’s the best of both worlds really – getting away from it all and enjoying the long summer evenings outside on the deck, but also having those home comforts so you can relax however you choose.
The underfloor heating kept the entire pod super cosy and the beds were incredibly comfortable – I don’t know why I expected it to be cold but it was just wonderful to wander around bare foot and feel so comfortable.
Some top insider tips: Bring an eye mask to keep out the morning sun if you fancy a lie in and don’t forget your bluetooth speaker (like this little waterproof one which is perfect for hot tubs!) to pop on some tunes!
There was everything we could have needed provided for us at Aquarius – shampoo, conditioner and shower gel ready and waiting in the bathroom along with towels and robes. Cutlery, glassware (even plastic glasses for the hot tub) in the kitchen, chopping boards, bowls and everything you need to cook.
We also got an adorable welcome basket with a mini bottle of prosecco , slippers, fresh eggs for breakfast, chocolates and marshmallows for roasting over the fire pit at sunset – SO CUTE!
We had such a wonderful stay at Wootton Park and I wouldn’t hesitate to stay again – it would be fab for families, a couples break away, a girls weekend or even a group of friends!

I think luxury glamping pods with hot tubs might be my new favourite thing right now…and who knew they were just round the corner in the midlands too! How am I ever supposed to go regular camping now after this?!
