Family Friendly with Gorgeous Swim-Up Rooms | The Holiday Village Rhodes Review

Holiday Village Rhodes Review

It feels like so long ago I was on holiday in Greece but i finally got around to sorting out our photographs and i couldn’t wait to share a few snaps with you on here! Those who follow me on Instagram will have seen a few sneaky peeks as we were sat around the pool but we really did have such a wonderful time it seemed a shame not to pop some up on the blog as well.

The Journey

We booked our hotel – The Holiday Village Rhodes – through Thomson who were great and sorted us out a brilliant all inclusive deal flying from Gatwick. Two days before World Duty Free contacted me to see if i would like a personal shopper at the airport (a free service they offer) to help me spend some vouchers* and make my airport experience a breeze, of course i said yes please! As we pulled into the airport my shopper called me to let me know where she was going to be when we got through security and as we got through Ruth was waiting to show me around the huge duty free department of Gatwick! We only had an hour to shop so i had to skip the free beauty treatments on offer (which i didn’t even know existed!) and I headed straight to the beauty counters. I couldn’t find a lippy i liked (shocking!) so i picked up a giant bottle of my favourite Jim Beam Honey Bourbon and caught up with Joe hovering in the aftershave section. He’s a big Hugo Boss fan and had found a bottle he didn’t already own but wasn’t 100% sure on until Ruth suggested a Gucci fragrance we hadn’t seen that he fell in love with and i treated him to. Without Ruth we wouldn’t have even thought about looking on the Gucci counter and i would have been completely lost wandering around wasting time. I loved my personal shopping experience and the next time i go away i’ll definitely be booking another one – certainly something to check out the next time you go on holiday to help you feel like a superstar before you even step on the plane!Holiday Village Rhodes ReviewThe flight was around 3 1/2 hours but Thomson (even though there’s no entertainment or food on short or medium haul flights anymore) made it fly by with the help of a couple of glasses of surprisingly nice wine and a few cheesy magazines! We arrived at our hotel around 10pm and were greeted with a glass of fizz before checking in and heading to our room.

The Hotel

The Holiday Village Rhodes is a big hotel split into two – the family side and the more adult focused relax area. We had a swim up room in the relax area and that room was stunning. Boutique, spacious, modern and clean and a balcony that went straight out into our own little pool for the block shared with about 4 other rooms – bliss. Our pool in block 5700 wasn’t connected to the main pool which at first we thought might be a bit disappointing, however after seeing how busy the main pool was we were so glad we managed to get into our own private area which were just shallow enough to stay lovely and warm too! Our block got the sun from around 12 until sunset so we found ourselves having a lovely lie in and relaxing on a few sunbeds around the main pool for an hour or two after breakfast before retiring to our swim up pool! There was no issue getting sunbeds at all and the relax area was just that with free wifi everywhere! The staff were impeccable and nothing was too much trouble, we couldn’t fault them at all – very impressive indeed.IMG_3350

The Food

We ate in the main restaurant for breakfast, lunch and dinner which were all good – loads of choice and a variety of themes throughout the week. During the day we stayed watered in the relax swim up pool bar which served some moreish ice cold beer and an array of cocktails – my favourite being the Frozen Daiquiris and Tequila Sunrises – just beware of the Greek all-inclusive measures! At lunch we often didn’t fancy heading inside for a full meal so we pottered up to the snack bar for some amazing fresh Greek pitta breads filled with meat, tzatziki, tomatoes and onion – naughty but nice! The on site shop sold bottled water, snacks and the usual holiday pressies you can take home. We treated ourselves to a massive lilo which was the best thing we bought all holiday to relax on in the pool when the sun got a bit too hot! Overall the food and drink wasn’t the best we’ve ever had in an AI abroad but we certainly never went hungry and if you asked for smaller measures in your drinks the local spirits were more than drinkable!

The adult bar located in the deluxe area was brilliant for relaxing in after dinner and they often had live music acts which were actually pretty good (a rarity for a lot of AI hotels i’ve stopped in) and very efficient table service. We chatted away into the night, played cards and enjoyed the entertainment over a few G&T’s together until bedtime – perfect.

Our Experience

We had such a wonderful week in The Holiday Village Rhodes and we both completely relaxed. Joe treated me to a 80 minute Hot Stone Massage in the Spa which was heavenly (probably the best massage i’ve ever had) and we spent the whole week sunning ourselves, drinking, eating and reading our kindles. There’s nothing better than spending quality time with the person you love in the beautiful sunshine without the pressures of everyday life. Everything was wonderful, nothing was too much trouble and if we were inclined to go back to the same resort we would certainly head back to the Holiday Village Rhodes. It also looked great for kids too in the Activity area with everything catered for if you have little ones in tow. The weather was glorious and hot hot hot for the duration of our stay with only one day being a little on the cloudy side. Beautiful gardens, so much food, limitless drinks and glorious sunshine – what’s not to love?

The only problem we had on holiday was that it ended so soon!
