The Handmade Burger Co Review

Hey burger fans! I’ve got a speed review for you today of a burger joint I stumbled across a couple of weeks ago called The Handmade Burger Co. I’ve seen them around before (they have three in Birmingham alone!) but we’ve never ventured in until now! We were starving and hankering for something meaty and full of flavour so we gave The Handmade Burger Co a go and here’s what we thought…The Handmade Burger Co Review

The ordering system is pretty much Nandos – you get seated, given menus and then you potter up to the bar to order with your table number ready. I prefer to be served at the table but it gave it quite a relaxed atmosphere in it’s industrially decorated restaurant. I got lured into ordering some spicy chicken wings by the friendly till staff to start which were a good shout – succulent and spicy with a BBQ tang. I’d certainly order these again although as they came in three’s I could totally demolish a portion off to myself instead of sharing!

Did I mention we were starving? Then you’ll forgive me for the minimal array of photos before I hastily buried my face into my Jimmy’s burger! The Handmade Burger Co’s menu is extensive with all the burgers under the sun to choose from. Joe went for bacon, cheese and aaaalll the sauce whereas I tried out one of Jimmy’s Rare Breed burgers (remember Jimmy off of Jamie & Jimmy on channel 4?) with added Goat’s Cheese and caramelised red onion. Hold me. Both we pretty darn epic with great quality meat and buttermilk buns. Mine got a little messy towards the end and they both looked pretty rustic when they arrived – definitely not a first date restaurant unless you find dribbling onion and bacon fat down your date’s chin sexy. We’ve been together nearly three years so it was game on and both plates emptied in record time!

You can customise your burgers with loads of different options and the staff are really accommodating – fries are all charged extra which is a bit strange but are reasonably priced. I went for sweet potato fries which were seriously good and Joe went for the hipster chips which we’d probably give a miss next time – just fries with raw cabbage and a bit of sauce on top, over-promised on the menu but we might just have had a bad batch. There were a few things missing/wrong with our order when it came to the table (different chips and buns + an extra order of spicy wings which we got to keep!) but the waiting staff changed it all up within minutes with kindness and care – more than fine for me. Their onion rings were awesome too – deffo put a bowl of those on your order.

For some wings, two epic bottles of Peroni, both burgers, fries and onion rings the bill came to just over £20 each which is pretty good for the feed. We both left not wanting to eat ever again and raving about how tasty our burgers were – I’d say that was a success! Next time we have to save room for dessert and one of their shakes too.

Would we come back to The Handmade Burger Co? For sure! It’s such a great place for a quick and naughty lunch and if you have any vegetarians and vegans in your group they serve all that jazz too (approved by the vegan society) along with chicken, salads, shakes and gluten free options!

Take a look at their menu and find your nearest place on their website!
