For my birthday this year Joe took me to Sketch, a very trendy French restaurant in the big smoke. The month before I’d come down to London for a shoot with F&F and stayed in one of Lastminute.com’s secret hotels – M by Montcalm in Shoreditch. I loved my stay at M so much that when my birthday treat rolled around we booked in again to stay in this luxury, boutique and very high tech hotel just 10 minutes from Euston. I didn’t snap any photos on my first visit but I figured if it’s good enough to make me book in again then you lovely lot need to read about it, so here we are M by Montcalm – perfect for business or pleasure!

The rooms are large and luxurious with plush bedding, seriously comfy mattresses, chic furniture and lovely little touches. Similar to Citizen M everything in M by Montcalm is controlled via an ipad and touch screen panels on the wall. Heating, mood lighting, tv, underfloor heating in the bathroom it’s all changeable at the touch of a button giving M by Montcalm an incredibly high-tech feel.

Both times I’ve stayed I’ve had a perfect night’s sleep all bundled up in the thick fluffy bed sheets and sink-into pillows. The beds are big, immaculately clean and make you never want to leave your room. Couple that with the baby soft dressing gowns in the bathroom and a smooth cup of coffee from your nespresso machine and it makes for the perfect morning in bed or evening wind down with a little tot of whiskey from the mini bar!

The bathroom is ultra chic with heated floor tiles, a gorgeous monsoon shower, Elemis products and fluffy white towels. There’s a giant mirror, a smaller one for shaving ans great lighting for your makeup, it may sounds silly but the bathroom is truly a joy to use. Outside the bathroom there’s plenty of wardrobe space, an umbrella for rainy days, a decent iron for last minute touch-ups and everything you could need in the mini bar from snacks to booze, coffee to phone chargers.

Inside the hotel there are a few places to eat and drink with a bar/restaurant on the top floor with stunning views and a bar in reception for cocktails and nibbles. We ordered some cocktails to the room and I have to say they weren’t great – literally the only thing bad thing we have to say about our stay and for £15 a pop it was a costly mistake! But the food smelt lovely upstairs when we took a look around and there were a lot of reserved tables so it must be popular.

M by Montcalm has a gym and an indoor pool spa so bring your swimwear for a workout or chillout on the lower levels. I absolutely love this hotel and I’ve managed to get a room from just £115 which for it’s location is incredibly good value in London. Just 3 minutes walk from the nearest tube and lots of eateries and bar surrounding it. I’d recommend M by Montcalm for a business stay or a romantic couples weekend, it’s just such a stylish and comfortable hotel – top marks from me.
