Hey team, long time no vid. Hope you’ve all been doing ok while I’ve been gone from the weekly vlogging arena. This week’s vlogs is a bit of a mish-mash from a couple of week’s adventures as things got a little blue in the middle. I explain all for you in there but I just wanted to say thank you for being so patient with the break, it really helps.
Toby went for his very first groom last week with Pets at Home Groom Room! They offer a Puppy Groom Service which gets your pup used to the smells, sounds and actions of being groomed while they’re still in their prime learning phase (up to 6 months). Toby loved his bath but wasn’t so sure on the dryer which is apparently quite a common one for pups, but he did let them clean him up and trim his nails which is great! They also put the clippers near them so they can get used to the sounds for when it’s time for their first snip. Such a great idea – check out your nearest Groom Room here – they start from around £15 and he smelt amazing!
Apart from Toby’s groom I took a day out to VFest and have been shuffling here and there, working on a few different bits of content and re-couping really. Sometimes life can smack you in the face with an emotional curveball when you least expect it. This month is my curveball.
A NOTE ABOUT PATREON
It seems a number of you were quite upset after my last weekly vlog as I explained I had been asked by other subscribers to set up a Patreon account. For those who don’t know, Patreon is a service set up for creatives to earn more money from their craft – people pledge to a creative and in exchange for their pledge (which is an amount from $1(80p) upwards) they gain access to extra content.
Words such as ‘donations’ and ‘begging’ were thrown around and a number of subscribers took it upon themselves to leave some rather unsavory comments, so I felt it necessary to address a few points which came up again and again and caused quite the stir:
- Becoming a Patreon is a completely voluntary option – It’s totally up to you if you would like to join or not.
- No content is being taken away from those who do not sign up to Patreon. If you decide not to join, your life online will continue as normal – xax weekly vlogs, main style videos, blog posts, instagram pictures, insta-stories, instagram lives, twitter, facebook pages, facebook groups – all still available for free and will not change.
- This is NOT money for nothing or a charity page. Patreons are paying for content – just as if you were to pay for a Youtuber’s merchandise. Instead of a tshirt, you get more videos or extra access. It’s more work for me as a creator, people are not paying me for nothing.
- I love what I do but ultimately it is my job and my online channels are a business. This is simply another way for me to make money from that business and give you guys more in return. Think of it as an independent sandwich shop branching out into selling cupcakes of an afternoon to make more money. It’s the same principle – customers get more choice and more items, the sandwich shop makes a few extra £’s.
I choose to share my life with you guys online, perhaps I share too much, put too much trust in my viewers. I had a couple of tight money months, we all have them. I shared that with you in order to show real life, for those thinking this job is easy or that those of us who share online are untouchable. If I can expand my business is a way that benefits myself and my viewers, I will. That’s not being greedy, lazy or selfish, that’s business and a love for what I do.
Bills get paid and some months there’s more left over than others. Some months accidents happen or surprise bills crop up and eat into your ‘pocket money’. That’s ok, that’s normal. Some months I can afford to eat out once a week, the others I’m eating out of my freezer. Some months I can afford to treat myself to a new dress, others I’m raiding my friend’s wardrobe instead. This is life, this is business and I will not apologise for chasing my dreams or how I spend my money.
So if you were one of those who left hate on my channel or who still hold a grudge – please read points 1-3 again. If it’s not your cup of tea then we can carry on as normal. If you’d like more videos and content from me then there’s an option for you there.
I hope this helps to clear things up a little.
I’m not 100% sure when I’ll be back to regular vlogging at the moment – I need to keep re-charging until I feel like there’s enough of me to share in such a capacity.
Thank you for your kindness for this person behind the screen.
