This weekend has been one of the best weekends of the year so far – two very different days but both brimming with wonderfulness!
So Saturday was the big day – The JCB Mud Run 2014! Myself and a group of guys from my kickboxing school (+ Joe!) signed up for 5 miles of muddy fun over 30 obstacles to raise lots of money for charity! I’ll be doing a full blown blog post on our mud run attempt later on but I just had to share a few snaps with you here because I had the most fun ever! It was a lot tougher than I thought it would be but SO much fun and although I have a few rope burns and a bruise the size of a tennis ball on my bottom it was an incredible day and we kicked some serious mud butt! As of this morning we’ve raised £1,080 for 8 different charities and our donations are still coming in so if you’d like to pop over a few pennies then you can find my just giving page at www.justgiving.com/xameliax.
After our muddy fun Joe and I went home, showered for about three hours and settled down to a well-deserved (and giant) Chines takeaway and a few cold beers – cheers! On Sunday we had a big fat lie in and ran a few errands before sitting down to afternoon tea! I had a traditional spread whilst Joe tucked into a gentlemen’s version with pork pies, mini burgers and Yorkshire puds, chilli nuts, sausages and a Yorkie bar all washed down with a trio of ales – such a clever idea! After our cakes and sandwiches we enjoyed the last of the Sunday sunshine outside together with a G&T and it was the perfect end to an incredible weekend.
There really is something to be said for pushing yourself outside your physical and mental comfort zones and raising so much money for charity is quite an overwhelming feeling – same time next year for sure!
