This weekend has been such a busy one i’ve absolutely loved it! I was a poorly bunny last week but by Friday i was starting to feel more like myself – there’s nothing better than coming out the other end of an illness, it really makes you appreciate your health and usual energy levels. Joe put together my swanky new mirror and my dressing room was finally completed – I’m now on a Pinterest mission to find some cute storage solutions for all my extra beauty bits in order to save what little desk space i have left! Friday night was spent prepping the kitchen walls for painting, playing with a few new beauty samples and catching up on our weekly telly.
On Saturday my wonderful mum came up to see our new kitchen armed with a big surprise – I was getting my first ever sewing machine! Mum has been teaching me how to sew and now i’ve got the hang of the basics and made my first dress she thought it was about time i had my own kit so i could really get stuck in. She picked me an amazing computerized Janome hat i simply adore. It has so many features i didn’t think i would get my mitts on anytime soon and i’ve already been having a little play around, it’s so exciting!
To say thank you i took mum for a Champagne Afternoon Tea to celebrate my new machine and gave her a little gift to remember the day by (more on that in a later post!). We had a wonderful two hours eating delicious cake, drinking delectable fizz, catching up on our holidays and making plans for dressmaking domination! I picked up some beer for Joe and his Dad who had been painting the kitchen all afternoon and doing a cracking job and headed off for a shower myself. For the evening i tried out a new smokey eye look with no eyeliner(!) which i quite liked and after a few glasses of vino we headed out for some yummy pizza!
Yesterday Joe took a trip to Wembely for the NFL as he’s a big American footy fan so i had the house all to myself. I had a much needed post-poorly pamper with my Deep Poor Clay Mask and NEOM Great Day Scrub, customised a generic photo frame with some of our favourite prints and put three loads of washing on and out to dry – domestic goddess. I took my new sewing machine on it’s maiden voyage by fixing up a pair of my comfiest PJs before hitting the kitchen to pop on a second coat of paint! After my DIY hour i spruced myself up ready to film my first youtube video in my new dressing room which was very strange but i’m really happy with how the space looks and i’m looking forward to filming many many more there! After editing, rendering and uploading i sat down with a well deserved glass of wine and watched a film until Joe came back home from his man trip to London!
Since i moved in we’ve had a holiday and a huge renovation so it almost feels like we haven’t properly settled in yet. This weekend has been absolutely lovely having a taste of what our life living together is going to be like and i’m so excited for our kitchen to be finished so we can spend more humble weekends like this in our new home together.
