Mumford & Sons Summer Stampede | Olympic Park, London

This weekend has been a truly amazing one! For my birthday the lovely Leigh bought be tickets to see Mumford & Sons at their Summer Stampede festival in the Olympic Park but sadly he couldn’t come so i took Beth along with me instead for the festival fun!

We headed down to London on Friday night as we were stopping with friends and wanted to be ready and rested for the big day! We spent the evening eating curry, drinking wine and discussing our weeks before heading to bed and getting in some much needed sleep in preparation for the fun ahead. In the morning we donned our prettiest summer dresses with sandals not wellies and headed over to the Olympic park for the day. It’s absolutely huge, we couldn’t believe it and the venue has been decorated with a fake field, fairground rides, plenty of delicious smelling food and beer tents and of course it’s giant stage! During the day we saw Bear’s Den, HAIM, Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros, Ben Howard, Vampire Weekend and of course Mumford themselves and each one were amazing live. We had our little spot on the grass, made some friends around us and danced until it was dark!

It was absolutely incredible and as the sun was shining away at 27oC (don’t forget your suncream kids) it felt like we were on holiday! After a full day of wonderful live music and a fair bit of refreshing beer we headed home along with 65,000 other Mumford fans and collapsed in a heap from all the fun! On Sunday we sat and watched our man make history and win Wimbledon whilst eating strawberries (us not Murray) feeling incredibly British and proud before driving back home and trying to take in the amazing weekend just gone. A massive thank you to you Leigh for my first (mini)festival experience, wish you could have made it – even though your ginger skin would have fried in the heat!

Hope you had a lovely weekend everyone and are enjoying the sunshine!

Tweet me @xameliax if you were at the #summerstampede this weekend too!
