This weekend Joe and I set off for our last weekend away before Christmas up north this time to Scarborough! Ox Pasture Hall invited us to stay for the night so we decided to make a weekend out of it and it was absolutely wonderful – a real wintery, wholesome two days filled with great food, log fires and lots of fresh sea air.
Last week i attempted to balance out my festive feasting with some super healthy lunches – here’s a GREAT tip for bulking out those soups if you feel like they leave you wanted more at the end of a bowl. My healthy eating however didn’t last long as my Christmas catch-up with my lovely friend Beth left me chowing down on an incredible red onion and goat’s cheese tart followed by a juicy steak and chunky chips…well, it is Christmas after all! We exchanged pressies and chatted away catching up on all the goss before heading our separate ways back home. Beth bought me an adorable wooden tea box, an elderflower and champagne candle and a box of M&S Special Blend tea, i got her a tub of my favourite NEOM Body Scrub which resulted in happy little elves all round!
On Friday i was sent a new iphone 6 case with real gold inside and i love it even more than my little fox case you might have seen before! I filmed my last video for the year while Joe whipped up a tasty fresh spinach and ricotta pasta with a glass of my favourite Italian white and we had a little Grey’s Anatomy marathon in our festive PJs…and caught up with the Celebrity Juice Christmas special too!
On Saturday we hopped in the car and made our way up to Ox Pasture Hall with the sun shining and Christmas songs blasting all the way! I’ll be sharing more about our stay later on in the week but it was pure luxury in the middle of no-where resulting in an incredibly relaxing stay. We enjoyed afternoon tea, luxurious baths and a stunning three course meal before snuggling up by the log fire with a Gin and Tonic and sinking into our king-sized oak bed.
On Sunday we were up and about for a giant Yorkshire breakfast before waving goodbye to our lovely hotel. We drove up the road about 20 minutes to Whitby a cute little seaside town filled with quirky buildings, arcades and a lot of fish & chip shops! We wandered up the sea front wrapped up snuggly warm and spent far too much money trying to win cuddly toys in the arcades! There were so many people walking along with their dogs and it made us both very pet broody – we’ve been thinking about adopting a rescue dog for a while now and have made a vow that if we did add a furry little monster to our family we’d be bringing him to the seaside one day for sure. After a delicious portion of chunky chips, and nearly losing them to a feisty seagull we headed home driving through the plethora of Christmassy houses on the way and feeling incredibly festive!
I can’t believe how close the big day is now! I’ve just got a few bits to pick up and we’re rolling – bring on an epic wrapping session with a large glass of red at the end of this week!
