As a blogger i get so many press releases and emails in my inbox about new products and the celebrities who endorse them, but the other week there was a double whammy from Urban Decay who let us into the secret that Kate Middleton and Khloe Kardashian both rave about their products – The Naked 1 Palette and Naked Illuminated Powder! With Kate’s elegant style and Khloe’s perma-glam face i was intrigued and just had to give these products a go for myself.
Let’s take a look at our Kate’s favourite first, the Urban Decay Naked Palette…
I already have the Urban Decay Naked 2 and the Naked Basics Palette in my makeup arsenal, both of which i absolutely adore! So i thought it was about time to add the original to my collection, especially seeing as it comes royally recommended! The Urban Decay Naked Palette* is full of neutral browns, golds and pinks perfect for most skin tones with a mixture of shimmer and matte finishes. I’m a big brown shadow lover with the majority of my collection looking like this palette but for me the Urban Decay powders really do stand out from the crowd with their super blendable finish and strong pigments.
I don’t know about Kate but my favourites from the Naked Palette have to be Half Baked, Smog and Darkhorse which when used together make a luxurious contoured lid and when you throw in a touch of Buck on the crease you’ve got yourself one killer smokey eye. At just £38 for 12 stunning shadows (and a pretty handy brush) the Urban Decay Naked Palettes are an absolute dream and every makeup drawer should have (at least) one!
Next in the celebrity favourite line up is the Urban Decay Naked Illuminated Shimmering Powder* (£22.50) loved by Urban Decay fan Khloe Kardashian! Koko’s skin always looks flawless on KUWTK (my ultimate guilty TV pleasure!) so any inside secrets are welcome here! The UD Naked Illuminating Powder is a face and body powder that’s designed to be applied wherever you’d like a shimmering glow.
At first i was a little dubious about this one having flashbacks to my 90’s school disco body glitter days but after having a play around i’ve found the perfect use for mine. Instead of applying over makeup like a highlighter (and a pretty powerful one at that), i dust mine all over my face before foundation to create a super natural glow through my makeup which looks amazing – perfect for those early mornings when you need a bit of a boost. It comes with a little brush in a secret compartment underneath the product which makes it ideal for travelling and when used sparingly can give you a beautiful etheral glow all over before a big night out.
As far as celebrity recommendations go these two are real winners for me and i’m so glad i’ve expanded my Urban Decay collection with them both – Kate and Khloe certainly know their stuff it seems!
Have you tried the Urban Decay Naked Palette or Naked Illuminated Powder? What did you think?
