| A Review of the Aphrodite Hills Hotel
An All Inclusive TUI Sensatori Resort in Cyprus |

When you work hard there’s nothing better than a relaxing week away. And when you work hard in the UK there’s nothing better than a relaxing week away…in the sun! Cyprus was our choice this time round and so I booked a week in the beautiful TUI Sensatori Resort in Cyprus the Aphrodite Hills Hotel for seven days of sun, cocktails and serious R&R.

Despite being a last minute booking I had one of my best holidays yet so I thought I’d share with you a review of Aphrodite Hills Hotel in case you’re ever looking for a sunny and luxurious break away with plentiful drinks, great food and a super relaxing atmosphere.

We arrived at around 9pm on Saturday after a smooth and stress-less 4 hour flight with TUI. Booking as part of one of their all inclusive packages hasn’t served us wrong yet and it really does take any worries away as soon as you wave goodbye to your suitcase at check-in.

Aphrodite Hills Hotel is one of the first drop offs on the transfer, just 15 minutes from Paphos airport. We arrived at the hotel to a cold glass of Cava and towel to freshen up while they checked us in.

Aphrodite Hills Hotel – The Room

Our room at the Aphrodite Hills Resort was lovely – very modern with muted grey and white, a large flatscreen tv, mini bar, balcony, big bathroom with monsoon shower and bath tub. Apart from the ‘king sized bed’ being two smaller ones pushed together, we couldn’t fault the room. I do a full room tour in my holiday vlog if you wanted to take a walk around. We asked for a mattress topper for the best after our first night as it was a little hard and the hotel were more than happy to oblige.

You can choose your preferred pillows with the pillow menu in your room and there’s plenty of space for all your clothes and bits with multiple drawers and big wardrobes.

The safe is free but the mini bar isn’t – you can ask the hotel to stock it up but these items are chargeable. Instead we took a walk to the supermarket in the village square to pick up some large water and beer to fill ours with which came to around 10euros for the week!

Breakfast at The Aphrodite Hills Hotel

We ate breakfast in the Adults only area every morning which is separate to the main restaurant. There’s a great deal of choice from fresh fruit, yoghurts, cereals, omelettes, pancakes, smoothies, full English and Cypriot delicacies. It was always hot and you can help yourself to lattes, cappuccinos, tea and juice to your hearts content – they even had soy milk for me and gluten free options too I spotted. The staff always greeted you with a smile and sitting outside in the adults only area under the canopy listening to the birds was the best way to spend your first hour.

The quality of all the food at Aphrodite Hills Resort is the best we’ve experienced so far in an all inclusive resort – great quality with fantastic flavours. Even the deserts which usually look pretty but don’t taste of much were full of flavour and quite simply delicious.

Entertainment & Activities

I’ve stayed in a few Tui Sensatori hotels before, and one of the best things about them is the entertainment. There’s always so much going on with varying energy levels and the staff are incredibly talented. Each evening you could choose from the main show – tribute acts and well known musicals – or the Carob Lounge with their resident musicians John and Judith on the piano which is where Joe and I spent most of our time. These guys have serious talent and it made our evenings fly by listening to live music with a G&T until the clock struck twelve.

On Wednesday the hotel brought in two top comedians from the UK for the comedy cellar which was a great way to spend an hour or two. The acts were incredibly funny and it helped to break up the week with something special. During the day there’s a wealth of sports and well being activities you can do from combat classes to Pilates, tennis to football that you can book in for at reception. We tried archery on our last full day and it was so fun, even though I was totally useless! No-one comes round to pressure you into doing anything and all the activities are set away from the main pool area.

Aphrodite Hills Hotel – Pools

There are five pools to enjoy – including adults only, children’s water park, activity and an indoor pool in the spa. There’s also a great looking gym (sheepishly we didn’t use it while we were away!) and a spa with lots of treatments on offer. There really is something for everyone here depending on the type of holiday you’re looking to enjoy.

All Inclusive Drinks at Aphrodite Hills Resort

We were all inclusive which meant apart from a few special items on the menu, drinks were fair game and totally free all day long. The quality of the cocktails, beer and even wine (yes, the white was pretty drinkable ad always ice cold!) were great and considering they weren’t using branded spirits it was pretty impressive. Everything from mojitos to frozen daquiris and even their own infused peppercorn gin made for a varied and very drinkable menu! The draft beer was Keo and easy drinking by the pool – we honestly couldn’t fault them apart from lime cordial in the mojitos which was surprisingly nice if not a cheating a little! Bottled still and sparkling water of various sizes are all included too which is a big plus in the near 40 degree June heat.

The Restaurants at Aphrodite Hills Hotel

Lunchtime every day we ate by the pool from the kiosk offering fresh homemade gyros, sandwiches and toasties. Breakfast was so good this was enough for us most days. We then got into a habit of heading back late afternoon for a delicious handmade crepe with nutella and oreo biscuits….naughty but very nice!

In the evening you have a multitude of restaurants to choose from which you can book into via the Sensatori app or machines in the lobby – they book up fast two days in advance so be quick! The Fig & Olive which serves traditional Cypriot and Greek dishes – their moussaka was heaven. Jasmin offering Asian inspired dishes where we tucked into some delicious crispy duck pancakes and pad thai along with a gorgeous rum burnt pineapple dessert. El Sabor the Mexican cantina with some epic sharing starters, a gigantc chilli buritto and some of the best churros I’ve had…yep, even better than Mexico!

There are also a few restaurants up in the village square that have a deal with the hotel offering 20% off. We dined in the Cypriot Taverna Pithari on our final evening and enjoyed an endless array of Meze for 17euros per person – it was delicious, the service was great and it was quite something dining in the warm evening air at sunset. The perfect end to our holiday away.

We like to try new places each time we go away but I wouldn’t hesitate to come back to TUI’s Sensatori Resort in Cyprus. Our mission was for pure rest and relaxation but there are so many tours, cruises and trips you can organise with your rep who was always there and spot on.

Here’s to a fantastic holiday at The Aphrodite Hills Hotel. We were both so relaxed (and tanned!) by the end of it, and although we came home a few lbs heavier on the scales it was pure paradise.
