Isn’t it amazing how a few days off can make a world of difference to your life! My Easter Bank Holiday has been full to the brim with laughter, good food, family time and all-round happiness – i’ve loved every single day. We kicked off the long weekend with an impromptu sleepover with an old friend some of you readers may remember – it’s BethjReid everybody! After our dinner reservations were cancelled we decided to swap our pencil skirts for pjs and opted for a giant Chinese takeaway instead with a couple of bottles of good wine and obligatory Wilson cuddles on the sofa! We hadn’t had a proper chance to catch up in ages and it was absolutely wonderful – so wonderful we were still up and gossiping away until 3:30am…whoops!!! I love it when plans get changed but the evening turns out to be better than the original, and i’m sure Wilson appreciated the extra attention too!
Friday (after a long lie in!) i met up with some of my other girls for afternoon tea! Scones, sandwiches and cakes galore we put the world to rights for hours with the April showers pattering away outside the window! In the evening Joe and I cuddled on the sofa and watched a film before heading upstairs for an early night…i can’t hack 3am finishes anymore, i was pooped!
Saturday was date day so Joe and I hopped on a train to Birmingham to try out the new Pizza Express Summer 2015 Menu – more on that in a later post! After antipasti galore and some gorgeous zesty puddings we had a wander up the canal and stopped in the mailbox for a glass of champagne overlooking the river and appreciating one of the first days it was pleasant to sit outside so far this year! After a bit of shopping – i built my first MAC eyeshadow palette – we settled in Brewdog, one of Joe’s favourite haunts for a couple of good craft beers before heading back home for a nightcap and some pork scratchings in front of the TV!
On Sunday i was suprised in bed with a giant cup of tea and lots of Easter goodies! Joe had bought me a pair of adorable baby lamb slippers and a whole chocolate farm – i’ve never seen so many chocolate animals! Wilson was in a jolly mood and pottered around all day long in his Easter Bunny Ears munching on his natural doggy chocolate from The Tail Wagger – it was adorable and it really brightened up our day! In the evening we popped round to Joe’s parents house with our little doggy Easter bunny for an Easter roast and a good natter over a couple of glasses of wine!
Yesterday i went round to my mum and dad’s house for a whole afternoon of sewing with mum! I’m so busy i hardly get a chance to sew properly unless it’s a rushed hour after work or before a kickboxing class, so it was lovely to sit down and take our time over my new dress whilst catching up on the week. After my sewing lesson we went to the pub for dinner before i drove back home – more naughty food, oops!
Even though it was only 4 days, this weekend has been exactly what i needed to re-charge and spend quality time with those i love – It’s wonderful to be able to switch off, slow down and re-kindle your love for hobbies that are usually squeezed in around everything else.
Here’s to another short week and all the Easter memories we made ♥
