Remembering Wilson with Monica Vinader

Wilson 2

Regular readers and weekly vlog watchers will know that a few week’s back Joe and I had to put our little elderly rescue dog Wilson to sleep. It was such a hard time for both of us as I don’t think we realised just how much of an impression that little dog had made on our hearts and it was incredibly emotional, one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do.

Everyone deals with grief differently. Sadly I’m no stranger to the feeling and I’ve been through it on a number of occasions through my 28 years, and unfortunately I know this won’t be the last time I do. There are options when it comes to saying goodbye to your pet – home burials, urns etc but none of them seemed to feel right to us at the time. We said goodbye to our furry little man and let the vet take care of the cremation. I didn’t want ashes looming over us on our mantelpiece or a reminder in the garden just in case we moved house, but I knew I wanted something to remember him by.

Last week Monica Vinader sent me this stunning rose gold pendant with Wilson’s name on one side and a paw print on the other and it brought me to tears. This was the perfect way to remember Wilson by, subtle, beautiful and so special. I’d been looking for necklaces before this dropped through my door and while very beautiful they just didn’t seem quite right – to obvious or out of place with what I usually wear. This is small, sweet and discreet enough to be even more special.

Monica Vinader have just opened up a boutique in Selfridges in Birmingham and I have a feeling this wont be the last of my jewellery from them this year in that case. I have my ‘be proud’ bracelet from Joe that I’ve worn every single day for the past two years and it’s still as beautiful as the day I received it – they’re not just a name and a hefty price tag, these pieces are real keepers.

So if you find yourself in my position wanting to remember a beloved pet or family member, or even to celebrate something too I think this is the perfect way to do it. As soon as I opened the box of this overwhelmingly thoughtful gift I knew I had to share it with you – it’s so perfect and it makes me smile whenever I look at it.

You can find the whole Monica Vinader range on their website here –  and if you’re in Birmingham, head over to Selfridges to see it all in the flesh.
