Last week I went over to Derby to the Sally Montague Salon to take part in L’Oreal’s Hair Fashion Night – a worldwide styling marathon to help the ladies of the nation find new ways to rock their locks! I have so much hair but I never know what to do with it so when I heard you could book in for a free styling appointment and find a new style I grabbed my friend Lucy and jumped in the car with my camera and notepad ready to learn!
Salons across the UK, Europe and Rest of the World took part in L’Oreal’s Hair Fashion Night using the #HFNight and it was pretty impressive looking through my twitter feed at everybody taking part, it was exciting to be a part of such a huge hair movement! The Sally Montague Salon in Belper has been open for 15 years and they certainly know hair so I sat in the chair with my mocktail in hand and picked out my hairstyles for the evening – let’s go!
Style 1 – Flave! Super big curls created with the new ghd Curve irons and the Wild Stylers 60’s Babe texturizing spray! My stylist made the extra big by curling each section in a different direction, combing through with a wide comb and going crazy with the spray! I often curl my hair when I go out but I never manage to get them this big – I’ll definitely try this next time because they looked so much more ‘runway’ than normal.
Style 2 – 60’s Babe! We built on my curls from before and created a huge beehive at the back with just a bit of gentle back combing and two bobby pins. I used to wear my hair like this a lot but I never had the courage to go so big with the hive – I LOVED IT!
Style 3 – The Double Braid! We were the last ones in the salon so I didn’t have chance to snap a picture in the chair but I felt so fancy when we left Lucy and I decided to go out for a few drinks with our awesome new hair! It took two people to get these in and it was pretty tight but they looked so perfect when they were done – I hope I can recreate these for the gym soon!
I loved the idea of L’Oreal’s Hair Fashion Night and I took away so many amazing new styles with me and a few great new products too (thanks L’Oreal!) – eyes peeled for those braids on my instagram and a big beehive the next time we go out!
Hopefully L’Oreal will do another of these nights soon but for now why not try out a virtual hair makeover on their website here!
