Look At Those Lips | Barry M Summer 2014 Releases

Yesterday we were talking nails, today it’s the turn of Barry M’s new lippy offerings with three Matte Lip Stains*!

I’ve tried a couple of Barry M lipsticks in the past and haven’t been blown away so I wasn’t expecting a great deal from these silver tubes – oh how wrong I was. They’re fantastically pigmented, stick around longer than any lipstick i’ve ever owned and one of these shades has shot straight to the top of my lippy league to become my favourite lip product for Summer! Although the packaging isn’t much to write home about it contains three gorgeous shades of lip stain:

Absolute Burgundy* – a stunning deep berry colour perfect for autumn or those darker summer days when you feel like unleashing your gothic side!

Infinite Pink* – a super bright Barbie pink that I thought I’d hate but with a bit of a tan looks kick ass with this seasons pastels

Eternal Coral* –  my favourite of the three, a stunning coral colour that I just can’t stop wearing, if you’re going to buy one of these then pick me!

Semi-matte in finish, these lippys once on do NOT budge. They’re a lip stain rather than a stick so be warned that you’ll be wearing it all day with minimal feathering and may even need to attack it with you makeup wipe at night time to completely get it off. Regardless of it’s matte finish and super staying power I still find that the don’t dry my lips out even on the flaky days so they’ve gained serious superstar status for me and my makeup bag. At £4.49 a pop they’re a real high street bargain that perform better than some of my high end products and I can’t wait for Barry to release even more shades.

What about the balms? Once again I was pleasantly surprised with the Cor Balmy collection too initially thinking they would be very similar to the Maybelline Baby Lips which I really don’t like. I’m happy to report however that these are really really good balms with a very subtle tint to boot:

Rosie Lea*not a major fan of this pinky shade as I don’t think it overly suits me but if you love your hot pinks then this is for you

Adam & Eve*a very subtle pink colour, closest to sheer as the shade range goes, more tinted than i initially thought and similar to Rosie Lea when on

Jam Jar*a lovely subtle red perfect for adding a bit of a oomph over the top of your favourite cherry or pillowbox lippy

Currant Bun*love this shade as it reminds me of a softer version of the Revlon Lip Butter in Sugar Plum

Trouble & Strife*my favourite of the bunch and one that I wear quite a lot, a lovely subtle coral tint to suit most skintones.

Some I like more than others (mostly Trouble & Strife and Currant Bun) and a few are very similar on the lips, but they all moisturise my lips wonderfully without the cheap smell that I thought they’d come with. Although they’re a bit too similar to the Revlon Lip Butters for me to warrant buying more, at £3.49 they’re fab to throw in your handbag for when your lips are feeling a little dry or you need to inject a bit of moisture over your favourite lippy – Cor Balmy indeed!
