I’ll hold my hands up, i’m a Jo Malone newbie. I’ve never owned one of their candles or their fragrances but i am forever lusting over them online and hovering with a bottle of English Pear & Freesia perfume in my hands for ages near the tills in John Lewis before begrudgingly putting it back and sulking away. So when they asked if i’d like to try out a candle from their new Just Like Sunday collection i jumped at the chance and waited eagerly for the postman to deliver my first jar of Jo Malone luxury candleness.
I’ll be honest, it’s everything i hoped it would be, and more. The packaging is stunning with an elegant black and white box and white ribbon filled with black tissue paper, your glorious new candle and an adorable box of black tipped Jo Malone matches (such a nice touch). The candle itself is housed inside a heavy glass jar with a silver metal lid, signature label and a cute little bow right on top – certain to look perfect in any room.
The Just Like Sunday collection boasts four new fragrances created by Jo Malone’s style editor Charlotte Stockdale that are scented with childhood memories of a perfect Sunday. Lavender & Lovage – the scent of lavender linen and crisp white sheets, Green Tomato Leaf – Earthy, leafy and full of sunshine, Sweet Almond & Macaroon – Almond and coconut with cherries and sweet vanilla, and of course my favourite Incense and Embers* – Smokey incense with silver fir, white pepper and napa leather on a base of golden amber.
The scent from this candle is incredible -It’s just like an incense stick burning by a dull, warm fire. We have a real log fire in my living room at home so lighting this candle takes me back to being young and sitting on the sofa with my parents in the winter watching films in front of the fire to keep us warm and it’s simply wonderful. I almost feel Charlotte designed this candle just for me, it couldn’t be more perfect.
I like many others i’m sure, i was a little dubious about spending so much on a candle before now. But after dipping my toe in the Jo Malone pool it really has blown any others i own out of the water and whilst i won’t be picking one up every weekend, i wouldn’t think twice about treating myself when this one burns out….and i’m one step closer to finally buying one of their perfumes too, sorry wallet!
You can find the new Just Like Sunday collection on the Jo Malone website HERE with each candle coming in at £39 with a burn time of 45 hours.
