Good Food, Good Friends, Fireworks and Pampering

This week i decided to take a step back from my busy lifestyle and take a bit more time for me. I passed on kickboxing lessons, sewing projects and youtube filming so i could catch up and shake off a bit of the stress that’s been holding me back lately, and you know what? It was exactly what i needed.

This week i discovered a miracle concealer palette from MUA that has been saving my baggy eyes in the mornings! At just £4 a go it’s a bargain and the multitude of colours hides so many sins, so if you’re popping buy Superdrug then definitely pick one up for yourself. On Wednesday Joe and I had a mini mid-week date night with good old fashioned pub grub followed by a movie and popcorn at home and it was just what i needed. Although our film – Transcendence – was a bit naff it was lovely just spending the time together without any distractions and certainly something we’re going to try and do a lot more often.

Costa launched their new festive menu this week too and although it broke all my rules i indulged in a praline cappuccino, bacon brie and cranberry panini and a sated caramel yule log on Friday lunchtime – a bit early but oh so good! Friday evening i went out with one of my good friends Paula for an evening of delicious French food (more on that in a blog soon), lots of champagne and a good old natter. We had a great time out on the town (as the duckfaces show!) and i even had a cuddle with her teeny little kitty too!

Saturday i was booked in at Champney’s for a Luxury Pedicure which relaxed me no end, i love escaping to a spa for a few hours. My toes are now nice and refreshed with a deep berry colour for Autumn and i walked away with a delectable smelling body scrub and a new polish to boot – one happy lady! In the evening Joe and I went out to see some fireworks in the cold evening air. We were so comfortable we almost didn’t go but were so glad we made the effort as the display was amazing and it made coming back home to a takeaway curry even better than before.

On Sunday Joe went down to London to watch the NFL so i gave our brand new soup maker a whirl with a curried pumpkin and butternut squash concoction – It was a real winner so i’ll be popping up a recipe post on that soon! In the afternoon i pottered off to see the lovely Beth for a spot of Afternoon Tea at her beautiful new house and well overdue catch up. After some yummy sandwiches, homemade flapjacks and a gallon of earl grey tea i drove home for a long hot bath, a DIY facial, my brand new body scrub and a cheeky gin and ginger ale.

I certainly feel so much more relaxed after this week and more than ready to take on the next – i hope your weekend was filled with just as many good friends and just as much gin!
