Did you know that only 4% of people in the UK who are eligible to give blood actually do?
I gave blood for the first time last year and now i’m a regular blood donor, an organ donor and i’m on the bone marrow register too. It’s one of the best things i’ve ever decided to do and i actually look forward to giving blood every time i go. I was really nervous before i went because i didn’t know what was going to happen (and because i’m a fainter!) but everything went so smoothly and it was a huge relief. Now i go back every 4 months to do my bit, bleeding for strangers and saving lives one pint at a time.
I’ve wanted to film this video for a long time in the hope it may help encourage even more of you out there to give blood. There’ no needles in this video, no blood, just me with a cup of tea telling you what happens when you walk through those doors and passing on some of my giving blood tips to help you on the day.
You can find out everything you want to know about giving blood in the uk on their website here.
