I love a good pamper! You can’t beat a firm body massage and some beautifying at any time of the year but especially when the days are long, grey and life just seems a bit tougher than usual. Before i went on holiday the lovely team at Swimwear 365 organised a post-holiday pamper for myself and a special friend at my favourite spa Moddershall Oaks to help beat those holiday blues, so last weekend Paula and I headed over to Moddershall for a day of beauty treatments, relaxation and a jolly good catchup!
Both Paula and I had both been on holiday and whilst we still had wifi for chats and photo sharing (don’t you just love technology?!) we hadn’t seen each other properly in about three weeks meaning there was a lot to catch up on that a quick cup of coffee just wouldn’t cover! At Moddershall Oaks robes and swimwear are the recommended attire and stress is left at the door so we couldn’t wait to get started and put the world to rights over a glass of fizz or two!
We started our day at 9:30am with a welcome drink and a tour of the retreat. We were given our robes and itinerary for the day and let loose into the relaxation room to settle in with a cup of tea and some delicious fresh pastries. We nattered away for a while relaxing by the roaring fire before heading up for our first treatments of the day.
I had the pleasure of a Back, Neck and Shoulder Massage which was absolutely incredible. With beautiful smelling Elemis Oils and a very experienced hand all my stresses simply melted away and my lower back muscles were worked and released like new. Paula had a Facial which was apparently one of the best she’s ever had including a luxurious hair oil and lots of TLC- what more could you ask for!
Moddershall have got a gorgeous and brand new outdoor pool/hot tub within their sauna and outdoor decked area which was a real treat! Although a chilly March afternoon we stepped into the warm and steamy pool and felt as though we were far far away from our grey little island – it was pure bliss! A quick dash out of the pool and you’re in the glass-fronted sauna looking out over the courtyard, heaven.
I lasted about 5 minutes before i had to escape and hop in the pool again but Paula was able to relax in there for ages soaking up the heat and looking fabulous in her beautiful new Lascana Berry Ruched Bikini*. Being a bigger busted girl P always struggles to find swimwear that fits but we think this set looks gorgeous and supports in all the right places – bravo Swimwear 365!
You might have spotted my Sunseeker Striped Bikini* from our holiday as it’s already been to Mexico and back before it’s spa debut – i absolutely LOVE it! It’s a balconette style, slightly padded with super soft halter straps that make it really easy to turn into a bandaeu…no strap marks for me! I ordered my bra size (32DD) and it’s the perfect fit with size 10 bottoms which couldn’t be more comfortable.
After soaking in the outdoor tub (and even surviving a rainstorm which was surprisingly enjoyable sat in the steam!) we dried off, donned our robes once more and headed inside for lunch. The Moddershall Oaks Restaurant is well known in the area for being top notch nosh so i was eager to give it a whirl and we weren’t disapointed. We both started with a Chicken Liver Parfait – moussey and flavourful – served on garlic bread (genius) and caramelised red onions, delicious. For main Paula went for Moules et Frites in a beautiful Garlic White Wine Sauce which smelled divine. I chose a Steak Salad with Lentils and Goats Cheese which was a stunning combination and arrived perfectly cooked – i could eat it all over again now. Too stuffed for pudding we took to the indoor spa area to let out lunch go down – very impressive Moddershall and i’ll certainly be back one evening for round two on the food!
With heated loungers, jacuzzi beds, reflexology footbaths, hydrotherapy showers, a steam room AND a pool there’s plenty to keep you busy indoors at Moddershall Oaks too. We had the indoor spa all to ourselves which was lovely and we spent a good hour and a half chatting in the jacuzzi and chilling out on the heated loungers before drying off and heading up to the Snug for our second treatments.
I’ve visited The Snug before and it’s quite simply beautiful – the perfect place for pedicures and prossecco with your girls! The Snug is too cool for school with it’s mustard and grey interiors and copper light fittings complete with it’s own bar at one end, no wonder it’s a popular destination for hen and birthday parties alike. Paula and I were down for mini pedicures which came with a foot soak and heavenly foot rub before polishing to perfection – i love pedicures and even the shorter length treatments at Moddershall don’t skimp on luxury, my therapist even removed my holiday gels for me which left quite a mess on the towel but felt great afterwards!
At 5:30pm it was time to hand in our robes and head home feeling totally relaxed with the world fully put to rights. A huge thank you to Swimwear 365 for this extra special treat and for Moddershall Oaks for making our day simply wonderful. A spa day at Moddershall is the perfect way to catch up with a girl friend or your much deserving mummy when life gets in the way – i’m even dropping hints to Joe about a romantic overnight stay sometime soon which means shopping for another new bikini is in order!
Have you been to Moddershall Oaks Spa before? Which Swimwear 365 bikini do you like the best?
* Swimwear 365 kindly paid for myself and a friend to enjoy a day at a spa of our choice and gifted us both some snazzy swimwear to rock on the day in exchange for sharing our experience with you lovely lot. All opinions in this post are our own and i chose Moddershall Oaks because it’s quite simply beautiful and my favourite spa!
