We’ll start in the living room and the easiest way to change up your decor, especially if you’re on a budget – cushions! Adding a simple tropical print cushion like this one from T-Indigo is an instant way to change up an entire colour scheme. My top tip is to invest in new cushion covers rather than the whole cushion itself to save space. Simply remove your old cushion cover and wash/fold away in a drawer and replace with your snazzy new one, easy!
Getting the summer look doesn’t have to just involve tropical prints, try to look at shapes too. This Oreen Ellis Arch Lamp is the perfect shape for a summer look with it’s lazy drooping tree-like arch. The diffuser at the bottom inside the lampshade itself makes the light it gives off spread beautifully around a room leaving a gentle glow perfect for the evening.
Something as simple as a summery bath towel draped over your bath or the glass of your shower can really brighten up your bathroom and add some summer colour – I love this mustard towel from Duke with it’s geo pattern around the edge. See how easily the yellow colour adds a little something to the bathroom instantly?! Amazing!
Of course we couldn’t go tropical without a palm or two but seeing as I tend to kill all living plants in my house then you can always go for a fake version! This faux palm from Wayfair comes in at an incredibly priced £33 which is amazing for a floor plant that won’t wither! In this gorgeous hammered copper pot it fits right in my bathroom too but you can change up the pot to match your decor so easily!
But if palms aren’t your thing, or you want something different in another room then you could try this bad boy which is scarily realistic I could fill my entire house with them! The greenery really adds an instant life to a room and you don’t have to think about worrying them – totally fuss free!
I absolutely LOVE the tropical look around my home, it never fails to cheer me up even when the nights get longer and the skies are grey.
Why not give it a go!
