I’m a huge clinique fan from their skincare to their makeup, i just love everything about their brand. So when they gave me the opportunity to try out their Pore Refining Foundation* i said yes yes yes, and i certainly haven’t been disappointed.
I’ve been using my Barry M Flawless Matte Finish* foundation since my holiday last year and it’s been great, but lately i’ve found myself longing for my higher end foundations once more. I’ve got the shade 02 Alabaster, which at the moment is probably a touch too dark for my skin in comparison to my perfect match Bobbi Brown’s Longwear Foundation in Warm Ivory, but that really is because i have absolutely no trace of fake tan and haven’t seen the sun in months. I also find that by blending well down my neck and dusting over a layer of my MAC Mineralize Skin Finish in Lightscapade afterwards, i’m back to my vampish hue in no time and it’s completely fine.
The big question with this one is – does it work? And the answer is simply, yes. I have rather large pores on my cheeks (always have, always will) but i usually never have time to use primer in the mornings to fill them in, so this product is a god send for me – something about two birds and a stone. I’ve found it fills-in my pores giving me a lovely even skintone but it doesn’t clog them or break me out which i found amazing. It is quite fast drying so applying with clean fingers or working quickly with your buffing brush is best and it also does oxidize a little throughout the day so if you’re hovering between colours i’d say go for the lighter. I feel like it’s medium coverage but buildable to cover anything you need to hide and the squeezy bottle and thin nib make it a breeze to apply on problem areas that need a bit more work. I have a lot of acne scars and active blemishes/redness and it covers it all up for me so that’s great. Longevity wise it lasts a whole day in the office and still looks great when i get home which is all i need from my foundation and it can also withstand a night out drinking and getting warm in crowded bars which is a bonus!
All in all i really like this foundation and i’d definitely buy it again. It does exactly what it says on the tin whilst being kind to your skin and i can’t fault it – a hearty round of applause for Clinique who’ve done it once again for me!
