New week, new hair! Last Monday I went to get my hair balayaged after feeling a bit fed up with my washed-out and brassy ombre. I love the finished look so much I’ve decided to write a whole post about it so stay tuned over the next couple of weeks for that! It took about 5 hours to do and it was the first time I’ve ever had dye all over my hair but I’m over the moon with the way it looks and I can’t stop playing with it!
Tuesday was work work work after a late night finishing off videos and blogs the evening before (very naughty). I made a Butternut Squash, Garlic and Chili Soup adapted from this recipe which was absolutely delicious and Joe and I went to see Guys and Dolls in Birmingham on Wednesday which was incredible!
On Thursday afternoon I popped back over to Birmingham for lunch at Aluna with my lovely (newly engaged!) friend Elizabeth! We tried out a number of their cocktails which were smoking and set on fire (check out my vlog below for those!) before sitting down for a long and delicious lunch. What a painfully cool little find Aluna is, eyes peeled for a blog post soon. I also went for tea with mum and pottered around a local garden centre…I may have bought a few more decorations for our tree, oops!
This weekend was so productive and I also got myself back into the kitchen with a few new recipes! We pottered out to get Wilson some high calorie food to build his strength back up a bit after being poorly the other week, and picked him up some Christmas accessories too from Pet’s at Home! After a festive Costa stop (I’m slowly working my way through their menu!) we grabbed some ingredients for DIY gingerbread men, booked Christmas dinner at the pub and hunted down a screwdriver so we could put together our new carpet cleaner! I made Slow-Cooked Pork Belly with Celeariac Mash and Red Wine Braised Cabbage for Saturday night dinner and Paprika Grilled Cod with Chorizo, Beans, Spinach and a homemade Apple Crumble for Pudding on Sunday – I loved being back in the kitchen, having time to cook again is one of my favourite things about going full-time!
We put up our Christmas decorations, baked gingerbread, listened to our favourite festive CD’s and snuggled up away from the rain in our best pjs. It was the perfect weekend and although we got so much done we both really relaxed too which was wonderful. I know we’re a little early with our decorations but I’m feeling SO Christmassy this year and I’m really excited for the big day! #SorryNotSorry
