Well i’m officially another year older and boy did i celebrate in style this year! I had an amazing opportunity with Benefit come my way that i couldn’t pass up so my birthday turned into a working one but one i’ll never forget!
Last week I was invited to the Dirty Dancing press night and i took my BFF Beth along for an early birthday girl’s night out for us both as we’re only a day apart! We had such a fun evening exchanging pressies and drooling over Johnny Castle with a few glasses of vino and a good old giggle – you can read my review of the show with an exclusive interview with the cast here – such a fab night out, and highly recommended! Thursday was the General Election so Joe and I took Wilson out to vote at our local polling station although he was more interested in barking at passers by than changing on the country and I whipped up a batch of White Chocolate and Raspberry cookies for the office ahead of my birthday which were super yummy! I also rediscovered my rollers – look at that volume – let me know if you’d like to see a tutorial with them as they’re SO easy and take no extra styling at all!
On Friday Joe sent a stunning bouquet of flowers to my office to kick start the weekend and all the ladies were swooning…including me! I love flowers, they’re such a treat and having them delivered always feels extra special. In the evening it was birthday celebrations with the family as i was going to be away on the big day. We went to a gorgeous pub restaurant and had such a lovely evening with some great food and lots of vino – i’ll be popping up a review of this one in the next couple of weeks because we were all really impressed!
On my actual birthday it was an early start with a champagne breakfast in bed from Joe with my favourites – fresh fruit salad and almond croissants! I opened my presents before packing and heading off to the train station London bound! I’ll be writing up a behind the scenes post from the day so i won’t give too much away now, but i was filming at Benefit HQ interviewing Jared Bailey their Global Brow Expert! It was such an amazing day and one i won’t be forgetting in a hurry, i can’t wait to see the video and share it with you guys – thank you for all your support on twitter and instagram, you’re the best! After filming we headed back to the hotel, grabbed some room service late lunch and got ready for a night in London!
In the evening Joe and I visited Bob Bob Ricard, a restaurant i’d been wanting to try for so long after seeing their infamous ‘Press For Champagne’ buttons all over instagram! I’m happy to say the food didn’t disappoint so i’m sure you’ll be seeing a review on this one too at some point – it was pricey but such an experience and we’d definitely go back without hesitation. I’m also happy to report that I did press ‘the button’…several times!
On Sunday we had a biiiiig lie in and tucked into some of my birthday cake benefit surprised me with at the shoot – red velvet, my favey – with a cup of coffee looking out over the city. After a trip round Harrods drooling over new camera lenses we then went for lunch at an adorable little Italian place we stumbled across in Knightsbridge. It was so yummy and again, i’m sure it will be popping up in my restaurant reviews section sometime soon! After a lovely stroll in the sunshine we hopped on our train home ready to finish off the weekend catching up on tv and relaxing at home surrounded by all my lovely pressies. I might film a birthday present haul for my youtube channel as i know you guys love to watch them, but for those who can’t wait, there’s a spoiler in the photo above! Mum and Dad bought me the Marc Jacobs Rose Gold Watch i’ve been drooling over for ages and loads of sewing stuff! And Joe out-did himself with tickets to V-Festival, pretty scarves, chocolate, Gin and a surprise weekend away next week because technically i was working this one!
Such an incredible, albeit very busy weekend and one that i’m still fluttering over now! It really reminded me of how lucky i am to have such a supportive (bearded)man behind me on my blogging journey and it was lovely to be able to share ‘what I do’ with him first hand!
I’m super excited for my ‘second birthday’ this weekend and really curious to see what Joe has up his sleeves!
