If a person has ugly thoughts, it begins to show on the face. And when that person has ugly thoughts every day, every week, every year, the face gets uglier and uglier until you can hardly bear to look at it.
A person who has good thoughts cannot ever be ugly. You can have a wonky nose and a crooked mouth and a double chin and stick-out teeth, but if you have good thoughts it will shine out of your face like sunbeams and you will always look lovely.
I’ve searched and searched and searched to find a tutorial on how to get this braided updo without any luck…does anyone know of an easy to follow video on how to create it, or can you clever girlies do it and explain it yourself?
The past two months i’ve been eating whatever i want and snacking like crazy at my desk and i’ve put on aroundhalf a stone…even with all my race for life running!!
So i made a concious decision last night to start up healthy eating again and what did one of the ladies bring into the office today - 8 soft and squishy jam doughnuts, and where did she put them - right at the end of my desk.
We were going to make the most of our bank holiday monday and paint the coffee table trunk today but as it’s pouring with rain we’ve had to postpone it.
Gives us a chance to get other jobs done though inside ready for our house-warming on saturday! There’s bits of ceiling need painting, plug sockets to secure, photos need hanging and a bloody good spring clean to be done. The latter can wait until saturday however and all the other bits have been done.
I’m not even going to bother telling you where we’re going this evening for a change. Let’s just say it involves some flat pack dining room chairs, bookcases and storage boxes that will all need to be squeezed into our car and assembled tomorrow….
Thanks england, you really are spoiling us with all these long weekends!
I’ve got so many errands to run the extra day will be really useful. There’s taking wheelchair mum and 96year old eva food shopping, getting my eyes tested, baking a lemon tart, having tea (and said cake) with H, painting skirting boards, making a curry…and that’s just saturday!
Roll on 5pm though, it’s easy tuna pasta bake for tea tonight and a glass of my free wine!
It’s mum’s birthday today but she’s really not in the birthday spirit this year. She has an appointment with her surgeon tomorrow to assess whether it’s time for her to start trying to walk again after her accident, and she’s so nervous.
I really hope he gives her the green light for putting pressure on her poorly leg again. She’s going stir crazy being in the house all the time and it would really help her to be able to drive and get out on her own. She’s itching to see the upstairs of our house too. Without a stair lift she can’t hobble up the steps and hasn’t seen it since we brought it - it will be like an episode of changing rooms when she gets up there for the first time!
As she doesn’t really feel like much of a party, we’ve convinced her to let us take her for a hearty pub meal and a few drinks after i finish work and she’s opened her pressies. I get discount so that pleased dad a huge amount, and i even offered to drive so he could have a few pints…best daughter ever? I think so.
O2 are meant to arrive tomorrow and install our phone line along with the magical box that holds our internet!
It feels so much longer than 2 weeks since we’ve been without it, it’s such an inconvinience. We have to change our address on pretty much every card we own and i haven’t looked at my bank balance for a while…i could be broke and not realise it! Once i’ve got the important tasks out the way i’ll upload some more house piccies for you all.
It’s so easy to forget how much it’s changed from when we first moved in and each time you add a shelf or a mirror or even a dvd cabinet, it changes the whole look of a room. It’s definitely starting to look more homely, even if the boy still hasn’t moved most of his stuff over yet!! *grumbles*
A few weeks ago it was BBQ and shorts weather, now it’s constantly grey and windy!!!
What’s going on England?!
I would love to be able to come home and sit in my garden to read after work. Or drag the table and chairs outside to eat dinner. When it’s sunny it makes the days seem longer and everything seem easier, i really miss it. Our garden’s getting really pretty now too, it’s ready to be used for long garden parties and wine evenings!
what are the down falls of owning a bunny?
and the good things about them?(:
Well first of all hi abbie - i think you’re new, welcome!
As for your question, i’ve found that the only downfall of my bunnies so far is not being able to cuddle them straight away. You really have to gain their trust before you try to pick them up because they can get quite scared.
But the list of good things is endless! They are so funny to watch and are simply a joy to look after and care for :)
I went to go and see The Young Knives in Birmingham last night with the boyfriend, ginger one and carly – they were so amazing!
They really do attract a mix of people at their gigs and always take time to talk in-between songs. They know that they’re not a huge band (why they’re not still baffles me!) so they don’t come on stage thinking they’re it. They’re just a bunch of guys from Ashby who like to play music. We had such a lovely night and although I’m feeling slightly tender this morning after lots of beer and singing at the top of my lungs it was totally worth it.
I’ve seen them three times now and am happy they haven’t gone global…I find that smaller gigs are always better!
Jobean is coming round tonight for the first wine & wii night in our new house! Best get my liver ready to take in more booze and my lungs ready for some more singing later….who’s ordering the bacon sarnies this morning then?
When you said you were doing personality tests, did you mean like Verbal/Mental Reasoning Tests? How did you think your test went?
And what happens "behind the scenes" for these sorts of things?
Personality tests are more like questions on hardiness or morals. Hopefully my answers made me come across as a normal, i just answered honestly.
Personally i think they’re a bit rubbish, it’s just quantitative data. You get so much more from just meeting someone! We’ll see i suppose, they know i’ve done a psychology degree and know how the tests are all marked but it’s all procedure.
I’m just too impatient, wish they’d just make a decision already!
The important meeting I had last thursday was with a local IT Recruitment Company who’ve poached me for a resourcing job they’ve got at the moment.
I went along not really knowing much about the meeting I was about to have and left utterly in love with them and wanting this job more than anything! Seeing as my office moves at the end of June the countdown really is on for me finding a new position and this would just be unreal if I managed to get it.
They phoned me today asking if I’d mind completing an online personality test and coming back in for a further meeting on wednesday. It seemed a bit silly doing the test when I studied them for 3 years at uni and understand all the behind the scenes workings of them, but I did it this evening none the less.
Fingers crossed my meeting on wednesday goes well, I’d be over the moon if they wanted to hire me!
Last night was a lot of fun out dancing and drinking to celebrate the birth of me! The night started with drinks round ours and ended with a cheese and onion pasty from Greggs, what more could you ask for?!
We’ve got so many glasses to wash and cans to dispose of now though…goodness knows what the house warming’s going to be like!
